The good news is that we have a nice house, and though we would never recoup what we put into it, the official outlook is that we should be able to sell it in a reasonable amount of time, and we would definitely get more than we bought it for. This is, from what I hear, a rare prediction in this market. The problem is that the fees and commissions are quite hefty, which for us really adds to the blow of the market. We expected this, but when we saw it in black and white it sunk in a bit deeper.
Since we are not in a position of unhappiness, nor have we made any commitments to other properties, it's looking like we are going to hang around here for a while. This is definitely not a bad thing. I truly love my home and my neighborhood. I just wish it was a little quieter and more private.
We are still digesting and deciding, but as of today, 1/6/10, that is the way the decision pendulum is swinging.
